FAQ
Below is a list of some of the more common asks that I receive regularly, so if you’re wanting to know something about me or my work please have a quick read through and see if you find the answer you’re looking for here :)
Do you do commission work?
I am open to doing commissioned paintings/designs when I have the spare time and if it’s an idea that interests me or that I think would suit my style of artwork. My free time is unfortunately very limited. If you are serious about getting something done by me and are willing to compensate me for the hours of drawing and painting that I spend on each design, you can contact me at be.seawright@gmail.com
Do you design tattoos for people. If so how much?
If you commission me to do a painting for you, I will send you the design by mail and you are welcome to get it tattooed. The cost depends largely on the size and level of intricacy/detail in the design. If you are interested in a design by me, email me with your idea & a description of what you would like done & I can give you a general idea of what I would charge :) Also keep in mind that the quality of the tattoo will depend greatly on the skill of the tattooist applying it, so choose wisely :)
Why don’t you want people getting your work tattooed on them?
As stated above, I don’t mind people getting my artwork tattooed on them if it is something they have commissioned me to do. I do not however, want anyone taking designs from my page and using them without my permission as tattoo designs. Not only is it disrespectful to me, but I feel it is unfair for a tattooist to make money replicating a design that I have spent hours drawing from scratch. Generally speaking, any good tattoo artist would refuse to directly copy a design without permission from the original artist regardless.
Do you sell prints of your work?
Occasionally I make prints of designs that I have painted for fun, this is usually a small run and when they are available I post them on my page so keep an eye out! I will never make prints of an original commission that I have been paid to do for an individual though I may post photos of them from time to time.
Why are you not tattooing / a tattooist?
Tattooing is a difficult industry to break into at the best of times. I also happen to live in a relatively small town with only a handful of studios. I may find my way into tattooing here or I may have to move, but I will definitely be tattooing one day! :)
I want to ask a tattoo artist to design something similar using something that you drew as an inspiration/reference, would that be ok?
I have no problem with people using my art as reference material to show a tattoo artist as a basis for a similar design. Any good artist will be able to draw a custom design specifically for you to be tattooed based on any reference you bring them. It is always appreciated if you can give me the heads up first however :)
